Haiti’s chief gang leader issues a warning of “a civil war that will result in mass killings”In response to the escalating violence and chaos in Haiti, the U.N. Security Council has scheduled an urgent meeting for Wednesday. The meeting comes shortly after a notorious Haitian gang leader issued a dire warning that Port-au-Prince, the capital city, is on the brink of civil war and “genocide” unless Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigns.Jimmy Cherizier, also known as “Barbecue,” issued a grim warning as Ariel Henry seemed unable to return to the country. The main airport was under siege and the Dominican Republic denied him landing permission.

Henry, whose term was supposed to end last month, was abroad when armed gangs that control much of the country launched a joint attack to overthrow him. “Ariel Henry must resign.
